    During her attendance at Oregon State University, McKenzie discovered her love for teaching the Montessori Method as an infant and toddler Teacher Assistant like her sister. After graduating from OSU with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, she earned her Infant and Toddler Montessori teaching certification from NAMC.

Teaching Philosophy

The role of the Montessori teacher is to keep everyone safe, create a prepared learning environment, model appropriate behavior, observe in order to give children opportunities to learn, guide the child by aiding their absorbent mind, and help children develop their language, social, cognitive, sensory, motor and practical life skills.

Modeling appropriate behavior in the classroom is one of our top priorities. As teachers, we strive to be a consistent model of respect, calmness, order, and harmony in the classroom.

 

O B S E R V E

Montessori teachers observe each child and their individual needs and interests. With careful observation, the teacher can determine when a child is personally ready to learn a new skill and learning materials can be adjusted to fit each child’s interests and ability level.

 

G U I D E

Teachers are rather guides in the Montessori classroom where each child’s individual interests are observed and materials are prepared and available for the child to work on.
